Gene Anne Hunter, 82, of Cookeville, passed from this life, Sunday, March 5, 2017, at her home in Cookeville.
She was born Thursday, May 24, 1934 in North Little Rock, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Forrest Marcellus Morris and the late Geneva G. Gunter Morris.
Gene Anne loved her life of teaching for over 30 years for the Putnam County School System as an English teacher as well as a counselor. She and Gordon loved to travel and garden together. Gene Anne encouraged the spirit of competition among her sons. She also enjoyed entertaining international students enrolled at Tennessee Tech, along with friends and family. She was always a cheerleader for the underdog. Most of all, Gene Anne loved spending time with her family.
Gene Anne is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gordon Hunter,
whom she married December 20, 1955.
She is also survived by three sons: Morris (Laurel) Hunter of Franklin,TN, Mark (Karen) Hunter of Richmond, KY, and Steven (Tracey) Hunter of Mount Juliet, TN. In addition to children, she is also survived by grandchildren Amanda (Casey) Prater, Emilee (Darren) Rogers, Erica Hunter, Blake (Carmen) Hunter, Aimee Hunter, Garrett Hunter, and Haylee Hunter, niece Paige (Ralph) Mills of Cookeville,TN 2 grand nieces Katie (Mike) Boris of Nashville, TN and Lacey (Patrick) Simcox of Cookeville,TN and 9 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded by her sister Janis Lynn Swim, and niece Lisa Diane Royse.
