Billy Ray Bowman, age 73 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life Monday, October 3, 2016, at Signature Health Care of Putnam County in Algood, Tennessee.
Mr. Bowman was born Tuesday, July 13, 1943 in Cookeville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late M.W. Dutch and Beulah (Mayberry) Bowman.
Mr. Bowman was loved by many family and friends. He worshipped at Sycamore Church of Christ, loved the Lord and was truly thankful for every day he had on Earth. He worked for Clarence Newman at Newman Sales for many years until health issues caused his retirement in 1986. He was known for his great positive attitude even in sickness, had a great sense of humor, loved telling jokes, and always lifted people’s spirits. He had a great memory and could recount stories about people and places from many years ago. He wanted to help people as much as he could and contribute to their happiness. He made sure he really got to know the people around him and would always ask about them and their families. He loved hunting and fishing when he was able, and was never one to complain even with all the issues he had to deal with in life. Last but not least he was a big fan of the Tennessee Volunteers and was so excited when he found out his Great Niece; Rebekah Bowman was going to be a student at the University of Tennessee.
